In Benin, 33% of married women do not want to become pregnant but are not using a contraceptive method. Overall, only 14% of women aged 15-49 use a traditional or modern contraceptive method. Through the EECO project, WCG is partnering with KESSEL MEDintim GmbH and the Association Beninoise pour le Marketing Social (ABMS) to introduce the Caya Diaphragm and Caya Gel to expand the contraceptive method options available to women. Progress to date includes securing a special import permit for the importation of the products and a training for providers and community health workers on the method. The product is expected to launch at the end of 2020.
